Field Hockey wins second straight at home

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus junior defender Ann Kopera (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored two goals as the ninth-ranked Bears (3-1) defeated Elizabethtown (2-3) 4-0 on Tuesday night in field hockey play.

Kopera scored in the 45th and 48th minute in the win, while sophomore forward Brooke Overly (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) and junior forward Amber Steigerwalt (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) each scored in the win.

Overly scored the lone goal in the first half on an assist from senior forward Samantha Macchio (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) at 25:14 for a 1-0 lead.

Kopera then scored her first goal, off of a save, at 44:29 for a 2-0 lead, followed by another from goal from Kopera at 47:58 on an redirect on a shot from senior forward Devin Brakel (West Windsor, N.J./WW-Plainsboro North).

The final goal came at 61:48 as Steigerwalt scored on an assist from senior midfielder Megan Keenan (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson).

Senior goalkeeper Danielle DeSpirito (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) made one save as the Bears outshot the Blue Jays 30-2.

Ursinus hosts Gettysburg on Saturday.
