Mumme Named Preseason All-American

D3Baseball.com preseason All-America Team

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College baseball star Alex Mumme was named a first team preseason All-American by D3baseball.com, the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.

Mumme was one of three outfielders chosen to the first team, joining Scranton's Connor Harding and Penn State Harrisburg's Bret Williams.

A returning D3baseball.com first team All-American and ABCA/Rawlings second team All-American, Mumme was the Centennial Conference player of the year and a first team All-Mid-Atlantic Region performer in 2019. The hard-slugging outfielder put together the most prolific offensive season in program history, batting .422 with school records in doubles (21), home runs (14), RBI (45), runs (60), and slugging percentage (.844); he led the CC in runs, doubles, RBI, and total bases and ranked among the top-10 in Division III in slugging, home runs, and runs scored.

A three-time all-league performer, Mumme is the first player in program history to earn first team all-region and first team All-America certificates. He already holds school records in home runs (26) and doubles (54) and is likely to etch his name atop the charts in several other categories this spring. Mumme is a career .397 hitter with 158 hits, 26 home runs, 103 RBI, and 120 runs.

Mumme and the Bears open the season March 3 at home against TCNJ.
