COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Soccer tabbed its fourth shutout of the season, blanking the Ursinus College Bears 1-0 on Wednesday night. The Garnet improved to 6-2 on the year while picking up their first Centennial Conference win. Ursinus slipped to 3-3-1 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Sophia Stills netted the game-winner, her second goal of the season in just her third game of the year. Stills returned to the lineup on Wednesday for the first time since being sidelined with an injury on Sept. 1. She gathered a deflection in the 50th minute and drove a right-footed shot from inside the 18 to the lower left pocket of the goal.
The Garnet tallied 14 shots in the game while holding Ursinus to just five. The Garnet set up camp in their attacking end, recording six corner kicks in each half. Ursinus had just one attempt from the corner flag in the entire game.
Chantal Reyes went 90 minutes in goal and recorded two saves to earn the win.
The Garnet move on to face McDaniel College on the road Saturday at 1 p.m.
