The Muhlenberg men's tennis team fell at home to Ursinus, 7-2, in a match that was much closer than the final score.
Four of the six singles matches went to a third set, and all the third sets finished 10-7 or closer. The only two singles matches that didn't go the distance were played as pro sets after the contest was decided, and those were 8-5 and 8-6.
Earning the points for the Mules were freshmen
Noah Sellinger at No. 3 - his first career Centennial Conference singles win - and
Noah Dunn at No. 6 - his first career win. SellingerÂ
(pictured above, celebrating his win) scored the final three points of his match to pull out a 10-7 win in the supertiebreaker.
Senior
Mickey Schindler came close to defeating a ranked opponent. He won the first set and served for the match up 5-4 in the second, but an Ursinus player who is ranked 22nd in the Atlantic South Region came back to win that set and the third.
Sophomore
Jason Grant was a tough out at No. 2 singles. After dropping the first set, 6-2, he won the second, 6-3. Trailing 6-2 in the third set, he closed to within 8-7 before his opponent won the final two points to secure the match.
