No. 19 Men's Tennis Earns Pair Of Wins Saturday

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Tennis picked up two more wins on Saturday, playing a match at home against Goucher followed by a conference match on the road at Ursinus College.

Swarthmore knocked off Goucher 8-1 and swept Ursinus 9-0.

Swarthmore 8, Goucher 1

Swarthmore won every match except fifth singles on Saturday. The Garnet needed a tiebreaker to take first doubles and then rolled to 8-3 and 8-2 victories in second and third doubles, respectively.

John Lathrop won at first singles with a 10-4 super tiebreaker. Evan Han won 6-2, 6-0 in second singles, Noah Criss blanked his opponent in third singles, and Noah Cheng won in fourth singles 6-4, 6-1.

Max Gruber had his hands full in fifth singles, but put up a valiant effort before falling 6-3, 7-6 (2). Neel Gupta locked up sixth singles 6-3,6-1.

Swarthmore 9, Ursinus 0

Simon Vernier and Jiung Jung, who had won at Swarthmore against Goucher in top doubles earlier in the morning, then traveled with a split squad to Ursinus.

Vernier and Weiyi Zhu won 8-4 in top doubles, Kevin Xu and Minki Kim won 8-7(4) in second doubles, and William Teoh and Jung won 8-3 in third doubles.

Jung won in top singles after a 10-5 super tiebreaker. Vernier added another win to his resume in second singles 6-3, 6-3.

Zhu claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win in third singles. With the match clinched, the Garnet won flights four through six in pro sets. Kevin Xu won 8-1 at fourth singles, Kim took fifth singles 8-4 and Teoh registered an 8-2 win at sixth singles.

Swarthmore is back in action during spring break in California.
