Women's Cross Country Selected Seventh in Preseason Poll

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Ursinus College women's cross country team was selected seventh in the Centennial Conference preseason poll that was released on Thursday. The Bears tied with Franklin & Marshall in seventh place with 28 points, trailing Muhlenberg (42) and Gettysburgh (44).

Leading Thursday's poll was Johns Hopkins who received nine of ten first place votes as they come off of their 11th consecutive Centennial Conference title. Also earning a first place vote was Dickinson.

Warming up for the Centennial Conference Championships last season, the Bears had five runners record personal bests at the Inter-Regional Border Battle. The Bears went on to finish eighth at the Centennial Conference Championships - their best finish since 2014. The team ended its season with another strong finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional as they placed 30th - their highest finish since 2015.

Lauren Ferguson and Amanda Choi will lead the underclassmen in 2019. The pair ran at the NCAA Mideast Regional last season and will use that experience as they head into their sophomore seasons.

The Bears begin their season at the Bryn Mawr Invitational on August 30 in Media, Pa.
