Talerman leads Bears to 4th place finish

MEDIA, Pa. – Senior Lily Talerman led the way as the Ursinus College women's cross country team took fourth at the Bryn Mawr Invitational.

Despite missing personnel to some early-season tweaks, the women had a solid showing. Talerman paced the Bears from the gun, ultimately finishing in 12th place with a time of 21:51.

Finishing second on the team was sophomore Ellie Stanley with a time of 22:57. Freshman Bianca Joseph was close behind in third, putting up a time of 23:05, followed by junior Gabrielle Manto in 23:15. The final two finishers for the women were sophomore Alyson Manley in 23:33 and junior Audrey Simpson in 24:52. Simpson overcame injuries from the past two years to complete her first collegiate cross country race.

Talerman and Stanley ran more confidently than ever, assistant coach Crystal Bacon noted. The team ran very cohesively, she added, as Joseph always kept Stanley in her sight and Manley and Manto were always within a few steps of each other.

"Across the board, a very good race for the ladies," Bacon said. "They really went out there and ran confidently, which is exactly what I was hoping for."

Host Bryn Mawr came in first as a team, scoring 26 points, while Swarthmore (43) and Eastern (59) followed. Ursinus edged fifth-place Arcadia, scoring 123 points while the Knights put up 128 points.

The Bears' next race comes Sept. 16 at the Bill Fritz Invitational at Rowan University.
