Volleyball Finishes With Sweep Over Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa.  –  The Ursinus College volleyball team ended its season on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Bryn Mawr. The Bears controlled the opening set, 25-9, before pulling ahead late in the final two, 25-19, 25-20, to complete the sweep.

Tied 3-3 in the opening set with Kelly Piotrowicz at the backline, the Bears senior served an ace that turned into an 11-0 run to go up 14-3. Isabelle Deal led the team during the run with four kills. The Bears went on to take the opening set, 25-9.

The second set was much closer with eight ties as neither team led by more than two points when the Bears took a 15-13 lead on a Miranda Foster Kill. Kills by Piotrowicz and Paige DeAlba sparked a 4-0 run to put Ursinus up 21-16 late in the set. An ace by Grace Sullivan clinched the set, 25-19, to give the Bears a commanding 2-0 lead.

After a 5-0 run by the Owls, the Bears trailed 9-5 in the third, however, they slowly came crawling back. Kills from DeAlba and Deal led a run of three straight points for the Bears to give the team a 12-11 advantage. Bryn Mawr answered with a 3-0 run of its own to re-take the lead. Tied at 16, Olivia DeBonte put the Bears up 17-16 and they never gave the lead back. Leading 22-20, kills from DeAlba, Deal, and Evangeline Nesslage closed out the match as the Bears completed the sweep.

Piotrowicz finished with a second consecutive triple-double. She led the team with 11 kills, 12 assists, and 17 digs.

Ursinus ends its season with back-to-back conference wins on the road.
