Volleyball Falls in Three to Swarthmore

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team fell in their second Centennial Conference game of the season on Tuesday evening, losing, 3-0, to Swarthmore.

The first set was tight with neither team able to separate by more than two points. Miranda Foster put the Bears up 6-4 early and then Kelly Piotrowicz gave the team a 19-18 lead later on in the set. However, the Garnet took seven of the next 10 points to take the opener, 25-22.

The Garnet took that momentum into the second set, grabbing a 14-6 lead. The Bears went on a 4-0 run late with kills from Foster and Isabelle Deal, but the Garnet took a two set lead, winning 25-15.

The Bears once again went down early in the third set, trailing 9-2. However, Ursinus fought back. A 5-1 run brought the Bears back within three and then a Garnet attack error made it just a two-point deficit. Swarthmore took the final set 25-18, winning eight of the final 11 points.

Isabelle Deal and Kelly Piotrowicz led the Bears with five kills.
