Volleyball Falls at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Ursinus College volleyball team was dealt a difficult opening hand and fell victim to a 3-0 sweep at the hands of red-hot McDaniel in Friday's Centennial Conference lid-lifter.

The Bears (5-6, 0-1) had trouble getting untracked against a Green Terror squad that has won nine of its first ten matches to start the season, five of those by three sets to none. Ursinus hit -.022 for the night while McDaniel finished at a .283 clip to soar to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-12 victory.

Junior Kelly Piotrowicz, fresh off back-to-back triple-doubles, led Ursinus with 12 digs, 10 assists, and six kills. Sophomores Paige DeAlba and Emily Harris had four kills apiece, and Grace Sullivan totaled a team-leading 15 digs.

DeAlba joined classmate Hannah Merges with a pair of block assists.

McDaniel had four players with between six and eight kills in a balanced effort.

After 11 matches on the road, the volleyball team finally plays on its home court tomorrow against Johns Hopkins.
