BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team splits its matches at the Greyhound Premiere Invitational for the second time in as many days, rebounding from a sweep at the hands of Baldwin Wallace in the morning session and returning the favor on Wesley in the afternoon.
Junior Kelly Piotrowicz added two more strong performances to her weekend ledger and represented the Bears on the All-Tournament Team.
Baldwin Wallace 3, Ursinus 0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-18)
Piotrowicz landed on 14 assists and 14 digs to go with four kills for the Bears in their morning match. Sophomore Emily Harris tallied eight kills and junior Miranda Foster logged six, while senior Sydney Gonzalez hustled her way to 13 digs and served one ace.
Ursinus 3, Wesley 0 (25-13, 27-25, 25-22)
The Bears bounced back in a big way with a spirited sweep of Wesley, pulling out a 27-25 marathon in the second set.
Harris and Foster ripped 11 kills apiece and combined for just four errors to lead a strong attack facilitated brilliantly by Piotrowicz (26 assists) and sophomore Paige DeAlba (nine). Harris and DeAlba had two blocks each, and Piotrowicz supplemented her setting with eight digs and six assists.
DeAlba flirted with a triple-double, tallying nine assists, eight digs, and seven kills.
Gonzalez' serve was a weapon for the Bears, producing six aces in addition to her 16 digs. Freshman Oliva DeBonte finished with five kills.
