Volleyball falls to Johns Hopkins, 3-0

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Ursinus College volleyball team was defeated by Johns Hopkins, 3-0, in Centennial Conference play on Saturday morning.

Set scores were: 25-6, 25-16 and 25-18.

Senior outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior) had nine kills for the Bears, with sophomore outside hitter Allison Raff (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) having four. Junior setter Emily van Mulbregt (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) had eight assists and two service aces. Defensively, Raff had nine digs with van Mulbregt having six.

In the first set, Hopkins led 3-0 before Ursinus came back to tie the score at 3-all. The Blue Jays would go onto win the set as they closed the first set on a 20-2 run.

In the second set, both teams traded the lead with Ursinus taking advantages of 13-9 and 14-11. Hopkins would then go on an 8-0 run to take control.

In the third set, Ursinus held an 18-17 lead before Hopkins scored the last eight points.

Ursinus will head to McDaniel on Monday.
