Volleyball takes Bryn Mawr to five sets

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – For the second straight match, Ursinus went to five sets on Wednesday night with Bryn Mawr.

Leading 2-0, Ursinus saw the Owls (6-8, 1-1 Centennial) rally to force a fifth set. In the fifth set, Bryn Mawr scored the final four points to win 16-14 and take the match 3-2 from the Bears (6-11, 0-3 Centennial).

Down 11-9 in the fifth set, Ursinus rallied to tie the score at 11-all on a block by Grace LaDelfa and then an attack error. With the score tied 12-all after a Bryn Mawr attack error, LaDelfa had a kill to give the Bears a 13-12 lead.

A kill by Allison Raff, on an assist from Emily van Mulbregt, gave the Bears match point at 14-12, but, a kill from Bryn Mawr would make the score 14-13, followed by a kill, an attack error and a kill which gave Bryn Mawr the win.

Individually, Karla Thiele had 18 kills, with Raff getting 17. LaDelfa finished with 12 as Ursinus went 49-28-162 for a kill percentage of .130.

Van Mulbregt had 39 assists and five service aces.

Defensively, the Bears got 25 digs from Raff, 18 from Thiele, 13 from LaDelfa and 12 from van Mulbregt.

Ursinus will host McDaniel on Saturday.
