COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus took a 2-0 lead in their match against Bryn Mawr, then had to hold on to defeat the Owls (9-7, 0-2 Centennial) by a 3-2 score in college volleyball action Wednesday night.
The Bears (11-5, 1-2 Centennial) won by set scores of 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 16-25 and 15-9.
For Ursinus, freshman outside hitter Taylor McCartney (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led the way with 17 kills, while junior outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior) had 13.
Senior setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) had 40 assists.
Defensively, senior libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) had 24 digs, with Thiele getting 16 and McCartney collecting 15.
Freshman outside hitter Allison Raff (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) had two solo blocks.
Ursinus heads to McDaniel on Saturday.
