Volleyball splits with F&M; Muskingum

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team split two matches at a tri-match held by Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon.

In the opener, the Bears dropped a 3-1 decision to the host Diplomats, before battling back to take a 3-2 decision over Muskingum.

Ursinus, now 10-5, won the first set against the Diplomats (10-7) by a 25-23 score. However, the Bears dropped the next three 25-10, 25-19 and 25-13.

Offensively, Taylor McCartney had nine kills to lead the way, with Karla Thiele getting seven. Gina Powers had 21 assists.

Raff had three service aces to pace Ursinus, with Leah Masiello getting 16 digs.

Against Muskingum (14-7), Ursinus won by scores of 25-24, 17-25, 26-24, 16-25 and 15-13.

McCartney led the way with 16 kills, with Raff getting 14. Powers had all 46 assists, while Masiello had 32 digs, and McCartney had 13.

Ursinus hosts Bryn Mawr on Wednesday night.
