IMMACULATA, Pa. – Another five-set marathon on Tuesday night resulted in a 3-2 win for the Ursinus College volleyball team, as the Bears (9-4) won a road match at Immaculata (9-2).

Set scores were 22-25, 25-20, 25-15, 20-25 and 17-15.

The Bears were facing dropping the fifth set, as they were down 14-13 with the Mighty Macs serving after an attack error. Freshman outside hitter Taylor McCartney (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) rallied the Bears with two straight kills, giving the Bears a 15-14 lead.

Following a kill by  Immaculata's Jamie Rombach, to make the score 15-all, McCartney had a kill followed by the set and match winning kill from junior outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior).

Freshman outside hitter Allison Raff (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) finished with 17 kills, a match-high, as she had 17 kills on 51 total attacks with just four errors. Sophomore middle blocker Sam Murphy (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional) finished with 14 kills, with McCartney getting 13. Murphy had her 14 kills with just two errors on 27 total attacks (.444 attack percentage).

Senior setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) had 50 assists, with senior libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) getting 26 digs defensively. Thiele had 15, with senior defensive specialist Joy Oakman (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) getting 13.

Ursinus heads to F&M for a tri-match on Saturday.
