Volleyball sees win streak snapped at PSU-Berks, 3-2

READING, Pa. – The Ursinus College volleyball team saw its seven-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday night, as the Bears (7-3) dropped a close 3-2 decision to Penn State-Berks (2-4).

Set scores were 7-25, 25-14, 25-22, 19-25 and 15-11.

The Bears had 13 kills in the first set on 29 attacks for a .379 attack percentage, then had 13 kills again in four set.

Junior outside hitter Karla Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins Senior) had 14 kills, while freshman outside hitter Allison Raff (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) had 11. Freshman outside hitter Taylor McCartney (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) added in eight.

Senior setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) had 41 assists.

Thiele also picked up three aces, with McCartney getting two.

Senior libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) had 22 digs defensively, with Thiele getting 15.

Ursinus hosts Gettysburg and Manhattanville in a tri-match on Saturday.
