COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus battled hard against Haverford (12-4, 3-1 Centennial) on Wednesday night, before dropping a 3-0 match to the Fords in volleyball play.
Set scores were 25-18, 25-21 and 28-26.
For Ursinus (6-10, 2-3 Centennial) , junior middle blocker Anahi McIntyre (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and senior middle blocker Kayla McLeod (Nashville, Tenn./University School of Nashville) each had eight kills, with senior middle blocker Kristin Hanratty (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) having seven.
Sophomore setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) had 21 assists, with senior defensive specialist Kaitlyn Ott (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) taking home 14 digs. Sophomore libero Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) added in 12 digs.
Early on, Ursinus trailed in the first set 6-1, before rallying within one at 11-10 as Hanratty served six straight points. Ursinus would eventually take a 17-16 lead in the set on a kill from McIntyre.
In the second set, Ursinus took an early lead, then fell behind before rallying back to within one at 21-20 on an attack error.
Ursinus heads to Johns Hopkins on Saturday.
