Volleyball splits a pair at Immaculata tri-match

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Ursinus snapped its losing streak on Saturday by going 1-1 in a volleyball tri-match with Alvernia and Immaculata.
 
In the first match, Ursinus defeated Alvernia (6-6) by a 3-2 score. Set scores were 25-21, 19-25, 25-19, 19-25 and 15-11. In the night cap, Ursinus (4-9) fell to Immaculata (2-10) by a 3-2 score. Set scores in that one were 25-19, 25-21, 11-25, 13-25 and 15-10, with Ursinus forcing a fifth and deciding set after falling behind 2-0.
 
In the opener against Alvernia, junior middle blocker Anahi McIntyre (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) had 17 kills, with senior middle blocker Kristin Hanratty (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) going for 13. Sopomore setter Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) had ten kills along with 32 assists and three service aces.
 
Defensively, sophomore Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) had 19 digs with Powers taking 11.
 
In the final match of the day, Hanratty tallied 14 kills with junior middle blocker Mara Berzins (Perkasie, Pa./Penn Ridge) going for eight.
 
Powers had 27 assists, with Masiello going for 23 digs.  Masiello had six service aces with Hanratty having five.
 
Ursinus heads to Bryn Mawr on Thursday.
