COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus was able to grab the third set from visiting Johns Hopkins by a score of 25-21, but, Johns Hopkins took the fourth set and the match 3-1 in a Centennial Conference volleyball matchup.

Set scores wer e 25-15, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-13 in favor of the Blue Jays (14-4, 5-0 Centennial) who got 14 kills from senior Melissa Cole and freshman Meagan Donohoe.

Ursinus ( hung around in the second set, battling back from an early 9-3 deficit to tie the score at 10-all. Ursinus would again trail by five, but, pulled to within two at 20-18 late in the set on a kill by senior Elizabeth Roth (York, Pa./Dallastown Area).

In the third set, it was all Bears as they opened up as much as a ten-point lead at 18-8. Ursinus held off a late Johns Hopkins charge as the Blue Jays got it within two at 22-20, before kills from freshman Gina Powers (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and freshman Lindsay Doyle (Troy, N.Y./Tamarac) gave Ursinus a 24-20 lead.

Roth paced the Bears with seven kills, with Powers and sophomore Anahi McIntyre (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) each having six. Powers had 14 assists, with freshman Leah Masiello (New Castle, Del./St. Elizabeth's) having 21 digs.

Ursinus heads to Neumann for the Knights Classic next Saturday.
