Bears go 2-2 at Moravian Invitational

 

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Ursinus College volleyball team started it season with four matches at the Greyhound Premiere Invitational hosted by Moravian College this weekend.

On Friday, the Bears lost to Arcadia 3-2, and host Moravian 3-0. Saturday saw the Bears defeat Alvernia in three sets, then knock off Wesley by a 3-2 score.

In the Arcadia match, junior outside hitter Mary Kate Wilmoth (Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) had 13 kills, while junior outside hitter Gabriella Galleo (Reading, Pa./Spring-Ford) had eight. Sophomore setter Elizabeth Roth (York, Pa./Dallastown) added in 31 assists, with senior setter Jennifer Fargo (Secaucus, N.J./Lacoradire Academy) netting 14 digs.

Against Moravian, Galleo and freshman middle blocker Kristin Hanratty (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) had four kills each, with Roth getting 12 assists. Fargo had 18 digs, while freshman middle blocker Kayla McLeod (Hermitage, Tenn./University School of Nashville) had 18 digs.

On Saturday against Alvernia, Wilmoth had 13 kills with Hanratty chipping in five. Roth had 31 assists, with Fargo getting 14 digs.

Finally, Wilmoth had 12 digs against Wesley, with sophomore outside hitter Kimberly Goldberg (Sarasota, Fla./Out of Door Academy (Pa.)) netting eight. Roth had 28 assists, with Galleo getting 13 digs.

Ursinus will host Cabrini on Tuesday.
