COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus volleyball team dropped its 2009
home opener on Tuesday night, as the Bears (2-3) were swept by
Cabrini (5-1) 3-0 in a non-conference match.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-13 and 25-16.
Ursinus kept the score close in the first set, before Cabrini
pulled away midway through the first set, going up as high as nine
at one point. In set number two, Cabrini darted out to a 6-1 lead
and never looked back.
The final set saw Cabrini pull away after being tied at 8-all by
scoring 11 straight points.
For the Bears, junior outside hitter Mary Kate
Wilmoth(Wilmington, Del./St. Mark's) had eight kills and
12 digs, while junior outside hitter Gabriella Galleo
(Reading, Pa./Spring-Ford) had a team-high 15 digs. Senior
libero Jennifer Fargo (Secaucus, N.J./Lacoradire
Academy) had 14 digs.
Sophomore setter Elizabeth Roth (York,
Pa./Dallastown) had 17 assists.
Senior outside hitter Traci Beltz had eight kills for Cabrini, who
had nine service aces.
Ursinus heads to Immaculata on Thursday.
