STEVENSON, Md. - The Ursinus College volleyball team dropped
three matches this weekend at the Stevenson University Quad
Match.
The Bears lost their opening match to the host Mustangs by a 3-2
score. Set scores were 20-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19 and 14-16. The
Bears also lost to Catholic by a 3-2 score. Set scores in that
match were 25-10, 25-15, 15-25, 27-29 and 15-6. Finally, Ursinus
lost to Virginia Wesleyan, 3-2. Set scores were 19-25, 23-25,
25-16, 25-18, 10-15.
In the Stevenson match, junior outside hitter Gabriella
Galleo (Reading, Pa./Spring-Ford) had 15 kills, while
junior outside hitter Mary Kate Wilmoth (Wilmington,
Del./St. Mark's) added in 13 kills. Sophomore setter
Elizabeth Roth (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) had 40
assists, while Galleo and Jennifer Fargo had 17 digs.
Against Catholic, Wilmoth had a team-high 14 kills, while Galleo
and freshman middle blocker Kristin Hanratty (Cinnaminson,
N.J./Cinnaminson) had ten. Roth had 33 assists, with
Galleo adding in 19 digs. Wilmoth had 17 digs, with Fargo netting
16.
Finally, Wilmoth and Galleo each had 12 kills in the Virginia
Wesleyan match. Roth had 36 assists, with Fargo getting 25 digs.
Wilmoth had 17 digs in the final match of the day.
Ursinus opens up Centennial play on Saturday against F&M, then
will take on Scranton in a match later that day in Lancaster.
