Women's T&F Earns USTFCCA Academic Awards

NEW ORLEANS – The Ursinus College women's track and field team was named an All-Academic Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) and Isabelle Deal received All-Academic Athlete recognition, the organization announced recently.

To earn All-Academic Team status, the cumulative grade-point average of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least 3.1. The Bears earned a 3.55 GPA, marking the fifth consecutive season of All-Academic Team laurels under head coach Carl Blickle.

Holly Chambers, Michela ColemanRachel Coleman, Rosie Cuomo, Deal, Erin Drebushenko, Neve DurrwachterKate Hunt, Jenna Lozzi, Alexa McCallMaddie McHugh, Katherine Moore, Catie Owens, Julia Pierson, Molly Rodebaugh, Jill RotmanVikki Rueda-Juarez, Gianna Speranza, Chelsea Stitt, and Zenya Yanoff were all named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for the spring.

Deal was also honored on the prestigious All-Academic Athlete list, which rewards student-athletes who have maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA and also rank among the top-50 individuals or top-35 relay units in the nation.

Deal put together an outdoor season for the ages, placing eighth at the NCAA championships to become the first javelin All-American in program history. She is the fourth Bear to earn outdoor All-America laurels, joining Rachelle Pecovsky (1995; shot put), Kate Dougherty (2003; 10k), and Victoria Goodenough (2013; 100 hurdles). Deal won Centennial Conference gold in the javelin and shot put, receiving All-Mideast Region status in both.
