Rueda-Juarez Wins Shot Put

CARLISLE, Pa. The Ursinus women's track and field team finished second overall at the Dickinson Quad on Saturday. The Bears finished with 171 points, trailing Dickinson who scored 200. Also competing in Saturday's meet were Gettysburg and McDaniel.

Vikki Rueda-Juarez had a solid performance in the day's throwing events. The senior took first in shot put at 10.59m, slightly edging teammate Hannah Bierling at 10.54m. Rueda-Juarez also had a top-three finish in the discus, placing second as she threw 32.17m. Bierling placed top-5 in the discus as well, finishing fourth (29.27m). She also earned third place in the javelin, leading the Bears at 29.47m.

In the individual running events, Holly Chambers and Lauren Ferguson each earned second-place finishes. Chambers placed second in the 1500 with a time of 5:04.63. Ferguson meanwhile placed second in the 5k at 19:14.27. She finished just two seconds from the first-place mark of 19:12.58. 

The Bears also had a pair of second place finishes in the team relays. The team of Katy Jenkins, Kate Hunt, Neve Durrwachter, and Gianna Speranza finished second in the 4x400 with a time of 4:24.60. In the 4x800, the team of Julia Pierson, Jenna Lozzi, Maggie Statler, and Rachel Coleman ran a 10:59.56 to take second as well.
