Throwers Lead the Way at Dutchmen Invitational For Women's Indoor Track

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Throwers headlined the Ursinus College women's track at the Dutchmen Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley on Friday. Freshman Isabelle Deal led the way in shotput, posting a season-high mark of 11.59m in shot put and placing second.

Deal continues a strong start to her debut indoor season for the Bears. The freshman placed first at the Bow Tie Invitational back in December in shot put and then bested that mark on Friday with an 11.59m.

Fellow freshman Hannah Bierling recorded a top-5 finish in shot put, posting 10.24m while Sophia Simoes (9.99m) and Zenya Yanoff (9.78m) also tallied Centennial Conference Championship qualifying marks.

In weight throw, it was once again the freshman trio shining for the Bears. Catie Owens (9.71m), Bierling (9.81), and Deal (9.43m) each made their season debut in the weight throw this season and each posted tallied Centennial Conference Championship qualifying marks. Leading the pack however was Simoes who finished eighth with a 11.14m mark.

The Bears are back in action next Saturday when they host the Collegeville Classic.
