COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's track and field team opened up the indoor season with a strong all-around performance in the Bow Tie Invitational on Friday night.
First-year Dominique Timmons won the 200-meter dash and ran the third leg of the first-place 4x400-meter relay as part of an impressive debut for the Bears. She posted a time of 27.81 in the 200, leading the way in a 1-2-3 showing that also included Mer'c Van Ness (28.34) and Gianna Speranza (28.44). The rookie also placed second in the 60-meter dash (8.21), where Speranza was fourth (8.46).
Rosie Cuomo logged a big PR in the 60-meter hurdles, going under the 10-second mark for the first time in her career to claim victory with a 9.97.
Jill Rotman ran an electrifying race in the 500 meters, coming close to a school record with a 1:21.94. Michela Coleman was second with a 1:23.55.
Isabelle Deal put her skills on full display in the shot put, grabbing first place with a toss of 37 feet, 1 inch. Hannah Bierling recorded a 35-4.00 in her debut, while Sophia Simoes (35-2.00) and Vikki Rueda-Juarez (34-10.50) were both within six inches of the rookie. Zenya Yanoff had a personal-best 32-6.25.
Rachel Coleman won the 300-meter dash in 44.14 seconds and took the leadoff leg in the winning relay, where she was followed by her twin sister Michela, Timmons, and Jill Rotman for a time of 4:18.44.
Meredith Steele clocked a 6:03.81 in the mile, and Rachel Conhoff finished second in the 5000 meters at 19:01.26.
Julia Rakovska marked a 4-7.00 in her high jump debut, matching Speranza.
