Seven Snag All-CC Nods in Women's T&F

LANCASTER, Pa. – Seven members of the Ursinus College women's track and field team were recognized on the All-Centennial Conference team for their performances at the CC outdoor championship.

Senior Catherine Buczek was honored on the first team for her gold medal effort in the 400-meter hurdles. Buczek and freshman Rachel Coleman each secured second team laurels for their roles in the runner-up 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay units; sophomore Kira Miller and freshman Gianna Speranza joined them on the 4x100, while seniors Jenna Kelly and Katherine Damato also took part in the 4x400.

The seven all-conference selections were the most for the Bears since 2012.

Damato also garnered honorable mention for her bronze medal in the heptathlon, and freshman Kateryna Swan earned the same for her third-place mark in the high jump.

Buczek became the first in Ursinus history to win outdoor gold in the 400 hurdles, blazing past the rest of the field with a career-best 1:02.97 that currently ranks 34th in Division III. Buczek has one more opportunity to lower her time into NCAA qualification range with a last chance meet at North Central College on Thursday.

Coleman's impressive finishing kick lifted the 4x100-meter relay to a silver medal in the first event of Sunday's championship action, the Bears' unit completing the race in 50.24 for their first outdoor medal in the event since 2015. Buczek ran the lead leg for the 4x400-meter group that took second for the second straight outdoor championship with a mark of 4:03.70.

Damato captured her first career outdoor championship medal by snagging bronze in the heptathlon, where she racked up 3518 points to land behind only a pair of Johns Hopkins representatives.

Swan just missed a PR in the high jump, but she didn't miss out on a medal. The rookie's mark of 4-10.50 was good for a tie for third and a share of the bronze, her first career conference championship hardware.

Coleman was also chosen to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
