T&F Tunes Up for CC Championships

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Ursinus College track and field teams tuned up for the Centennial Conference championships with a trip to Elizabethtown on Saturday, where sophomore Codi Yhap's first-place triple jump headlined the Bears' proceedings.

For the men, sophomore Codi Yhap won the triple jump with a career-best 41-7.00, which ranks fourth in the CC.

The 4x100-meter relay unit comprised of senior Jequan Mitchell, Yhap, sophomore Brody Johnson, and junior Shy'Quan Davis were second with a 44.50 that places them fifth in the CC.

Mitchell just missed a season best in the 100-meter dash (11.76).

Sophomore Austin Bittenbender was less than an inch off his PR in the long jump with a season-high 20-5.25, and senior Richard Gould was only a quarter of an inch from a PR in the high jump (5-3.75).

Freshman Zack Beavers snagged a PR in the 400 hurdles, moving to 13th in the conference with a 1:03.09. Classmate Billy McKernan also produced a personal best, his coming in the shot put (38-1.25)

Sophomore John DeLia was eighth in the 800 (2:03.80). Classmate John Haase led a big contingent in the 1500 with a third-place clocking of 4:17.40; freshman Kyle Berardi was fifth (4:18.53).

On the women's side, junior Caroline Buckley notched a season-best 34-0.25 to finish second in the triple jump and added a mark of 4.68 meters to place third in the long jump. She ranks sixth in the CC in the triple.

Sophomore Kira Miller's 16.87-second time was a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, good for thirs overall and 12th in the Centennial Conference. Classmate Catherine Curran was second in the 400-meter hurdles with a 1:10.38 that placed her in second and jumped to 10th in the conference.

Freshmen Gianna Speranza and Kateryna Swan each recorded PR's in the high jump (4-9.75), and senior Katherine Damato had a season best (4-6.00).

Sophomore Ellie Stanley earned eight points for the Bears in the 5000 meters, taking second place at 21:00.36.

Freshman Molly Rodeabaugh finished fifth in the 100-meter dash, qualifying for the finals heat on the strength of a personal-best 14.00.

Senior Lily Talerman was eighth in the 1500 meters (2:31.81), and junior Audrey Simpson was 11th (2:33.95).
