Track & Field Opens Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College track and field team took a small contingent of distance runners and throwers to Widener for the first day of the Widener Invitational on Friday.

Sophomore Alyson Manley was solid in her 10000-meter debut, finishing seventh in 43:52 to rank eighth in the Centennial Conference this season.

Junior Riley Engle moved into the conference's top-20 in her season debut in the 5000 meters, crossing the line in 19:06.29 to place 20th overall. She placed second in her section.

Sophomore John Haase finished the 5000 meters in 15:44.97.

In the shot put, freshman Griffin McMann led the Bears with a 12th-place finish on a heave of 13.11 meters. Sophomore Carlo Telesco (11.80 meters) and freshmen George Psaradakis (10.88) and Billy McKernan (9.96) also competed for Ursinus.

Telesco compiled a toss of 36.53 meters in the discus, while McMann's 36.17 meters was easily a personal best.

Sophomore Sophia Simoes logged a 29.23-meter mark in the discus and tallied 10.58 meters in the shot put, where junior Mikaela Bordonaro totaled 9.60 meters in her season debut in the event.
