Women's Tennis Edged by Dickinson

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – A tough momentum swing in a tiebreaking match at first doubles swung the pendulum in favor of visiting Dickinson in the Ursinus College women's tennis team's Centennial Conference showdown on Saturday.

With doubles knotted at a court apiece, Cara Freedman and Maddie Russell stormed out to a 6-2 lead in the pro-set tiebreaker on the top court. But the Red Devils' top pair rallied to take the next six points and secure a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

Avery Samer brought the teams back level at two courts apiece with a dominating 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles, but Dickinson (3-1) took the next three matches to clinch the team win.

Samer was a double winner on the day, teaming with Brenna Trkula for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles.

Jessica Leach was an 8-3 winner at No. 6 singles for the Bears.

The Bears welcome Johns Hopkins to the Bailey Courts for Senior Day next Saturday.
