Sorelle Nearly Pulls Off Upset

BALTIMORE, Md. – Caitlyn Sorelle came within a few points of upsetting the number one offering of a nationally ranked squad, but her bid for a signature victory fell just shy in the Ursinus College women's tennis team's 9-0 Centennial Conference loss at Johns Hopkins.

Sorelle went shot for shot with the Blue Jays' Jessica Liang at number one singles, taking the first set by a score of 6-4. Liang responded with a 6-0 win in the second set and edged Sorelle, 10-5, in the super tiebreaker.

Sorelle's match was the only court in which an Ursinus player won more than three games against the nation's 26th-ranked team. Johns Hopkins won all three doubles matches by an 8-1 count.

The Bears take on another nationally ranked program in Swarthmore on Wednesday.
