BALTIMORE, Md. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team challenged No. 20 Johns Hopkins on the road on Saturday, falling victim to a 9-0 Centennial Conference sweep.
Freshman Maddie Sorebo nearly gave the Bears a point, but came up a tad short in a 9-7 battle at number six singles.
Ursinus is now 8-10 overall and 2-7 in CC matches, while the Blue Jays (8-8) remained perfect in league play at 8-0.
Senior Ariel Daznziger and freshman Madisen Harvey were most competitive for the Bears in doubles play, where they lost 8-4 to Chrissy Simon and Margo Gerke on the second court.
Senior Ashley Nguyen played a tight first set opposite Dhanya Asokumar at second singles, ultimately succumbing to a 7-5, 6-2 defeat. Sorebo took Prerna Singh to the wire in the last match of the day, playing to a 7-7 deadlock before the Hopkins player grabbed the last two games.
The Bears conclude their season with a conference match at Bryn Mawr on Tuesday.
