BeVard Sets All-Time Singles Record

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Aileen BeVard became the program's all-time leader in career singles wins in the Ursinus College women's tennis team's 7-2 non-conference loss at Moravian on Thursday.

Despite stop-and-start periods of rain, the Bears took the gamble and made the trip to the Lehigh Valley on a chilly afternoon, and BeVard made it well worth it with an 8-3 victory at number two. The win was the 50th of her career, moving her past BreAnna Bashaw '16 and into sole possession of the school record.

BeVard was a double winner on her historic day, teaming with senior partner Ashley Nguyen for an 8-3 win against Emma Angle and Kate Rennar at number one doubles. That result gave Nguyen the 40th doubles victory of her career, one of only three players in school history to reach that milestone.

The teams played pro sets in singles as well as doubles, and the Greyhounds (7-2) generally controlled the proceedings. Senior Ariel Danziger was closest to a win, taking Brooke Adams to an 8-6 decision at number three.

The Bears continue CC play at No. 20 Johns Hopkins on Saturday before concluding the season at Bryn Mawr next Tuesday.
