Danziger Makes History as Women's Tennis Crushes Cabrini

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ariel Danziger became the all-time leader in career doubles wins as the Ursinus College women's tennis team steamrolled Cabrini, 9-0, in non-conference action on the Bailey Courts.

The Bears dropped a grand total of three games – zero in singles play – in evening their overall record at 7-7.

Danziger made history at number two doubles, where she and freshman Madisen Harvey secured an 8-3 result. The win was the 52nd of her career, moving her past former teammate BreAnna Bashaw '16 and into sole possession of the all-time program record.

Against a Cavaliers squad with just five players, the Bears did not concede another game. Seniors Aileen BeVard and Ashley Nguyen won 8-0 at number one doubles, which preceded a run of five double bagels in singles.

BeVard and Nguyen joined Danziger as 6-0, 6-0 winners on the top three singles courts, while Harvey and sophomore Summer Burkholder held up the back end with consecutive shutouts at fourth and fifth singles, respectively.

BeVard is on the cusp of her own historic milestone, as the senior now stands just one win away from equaling Bashaw for the all-time mark in singles victories (49).

Nguyen moved into fourth place in program history with 69 overall wins, meaning that three of the four winningest players in the annals of Ursinus women's tennis are on the same team. Nguyen's 38th doubles win put her in a tie for fourth all-time.

Danziger now sets her sights on Bashaw's overall team record of 100 wins. With five matches remaining on the schedule, she needs five more victories to stand alone.

The Bears resume Centennial Conference play at McDaniel on Saturday.
