Danziger Delivers Milestone Doubles Win

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team gave Gettysburg a fight up and down the lineup on Saturday, but the Bullets got the best of several tight matches to score an 8-1 Centennial Conference victory at The Battlefield.

Senior Ariel Danziger and freshman Madisen Harvey were the lone winners on the day for the Bears (5-5, 0-3), outlasting Maria Martinovic and Sydney Fischer, 9-7, at number two doubles.

The victory marked a major milestone for Danziger, who collected her 50th career doubles win to move within one of the all-time program record. Danziger will match BreAnna Bashaw '16 for the top spot in school history with her next doubles win.

Seniors Aileen BeVard and Ashley Nguyen were each involved in a pair of razor-thin decisions at the top of the lineup. The duo dropped an 8-6 tilt against Samantha Boardman and Amanda Vinges at number one doubles. BeVard was on the short side of a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 nail-biter opposite Martinovic at number one singles, while Nguyen and Boardman engaged in an epic marathon at number two that ended with the Gettysburg player hanging on for a 5-7, 6-4, 12-10 victory.

Danziger played Vinges to a 6-2, 7-5 decision at number three singles, while freshman Summer Burkholder lost a first-set tiebreaker to Maddie Class in a 7-6 (4), 6-2 final.

Next up for the Bears is a CC match at Muhlenberg on Tuesday.
