Swarthmore Sweeps Women's Tennis

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team ran into a dominant Swarthmore squad and dropped a 9-0 Centennial Conference decision on Tuesday.

Senior Aileen BeVard accounted for six of 13 combined games won for the Bears, who took to the Bailey Courts for the first time in league play.

Swarthmore, which came in ranked 40th in Division III and eighth in the Atlantic South region, improved to 3-7 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Ursinus fell to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the CC.

BeVard and classmate Ashley Nguyen were the only doubles pairing to win a game, taking two off Emma Kassan and Anna Scheibmeier at number one.

BeVard and fellow senior Ariel Danziger were the Bears' most competitive representatives in singles play. BeVard lost by a 6-2, 6-2 count to Shirline Wee at number one, while Danziger fell 6-0, 6-4 against Arya Jemal at number three.

The women's tennis team aims for its first CC win at Gettysburg on Saturday. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
