COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 9-0 shutout of visiting Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference action Wednesday.

The second sweep in three outings ensured the Bears (10-3, 2-2) their third consecutive 10-win season. It was also Ursinus' third straight win over the Mules (0-6, 0-4).

The Bears dominated from start to finish, beginning with a sweep of doubles play in which they permitted the Mules just six games combined.

At first doubles, juniors Aileen Bevard and Ashley Nguyen posted an 8-3 victory over Jamie Rosenblum and Brittany Gould. Freshman Caitlyn Sorelle and junior Ariel Danizger cruised past Hannah Molk and Meghan Olsen, 8-1, at second doubles; the victory gave them 14 for the season, already good for third in single-season school history.

The senior tandem of Robin Alsher and Christine Palazzolo, meanwhile, became the eighth duo in program history to reach 10 doubles wins in a single season with an 8-2 decision against Hannah Bobker and Shelby Knafo.

Singles play was similarly straightforward for Ursinus. Bevard topped Rosenblum 6-1, 6-4 at number one, Sorelle defeated Molk 6-3, 6-2 at number two, and Nguyen downed Gould 6-2, 6-1 at number three. The victory moved Nguyen into the program's all-time top-10.

Danziger edged past Olsen 6-1, 6-3 at fourth singles, Alsher netted a win over Bobker by the same score, and Palazzolo made it a clean sweep via a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Knafo.

The women's tennis team hits the road to take on Dickinson on Saturday, April 8.
