Women's Tennis Retains Regional Ranking

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team continued its nearly year-long stay in the ITA Atlantic South regional rankings, occupying the 20th and final slot in the newest set of ratings released Thursday evening by the organization.

The Bears (8-5, 1-4) entered the rankings for the first time in program history on April 30 of last year. They remained there in the November 3rd poll before climbing to No. 12 two weeks ago, their highest ever. Since then, Ursinus defeated Haverford for the first time since 1983 and dropped 5-4 decisions to Dickinson, which joined the rankings at No. 18 this week, and Johns Hopkins, which held firm at No. 4. The Bears also fell to 13th-ranked Swarthmore by a 6-3 count on Wednesday.

Ursinus is one of five Centennial Conference programs to receive regional recognition, joining Hopkins (4), Washington College (8), Swarthmore (13), and Dickinson (18).

The next set of national and regional rankings is scheduled to be released on Thursday, April 28.

The Bears head to Gettysburg for a Centennial Conference tilt on Saturday.
