Women's Tennis drops 9-0 match to Johns Hopkins

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team was blanked by fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins on Saturday by a 9-0 score.

However, the Bears (5-7, 0-4 Centennial) did score 15 team points on the afternoon.

In doubles play, the team of junior Heather McMasters (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) and senior Jessica Tyrrell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) scored a point in their match against Sydney Lehman and Kaitlin Pfisterer at number one flight, 8-1.

At number two flight, freshman BreAnna Bashaw (Vernon, Vt./Northfield-Mount Hermon) and freshman Stephanie-Jane Seabra (York, Pa./York Suburban) lost to Lauren Field and Olivia Kasten by an 8-3 score, while sophomore Renee Tornea (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington) and sophomore Audrey Whitebloom (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) lost at number three flight to Ariel Several and Shannon Libaw, 8-1.

In singles play, Whitebloom dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Lehman at number one flight, with Tyrrell battling Libaw at number two flight, before losing 6-1, 6-0.

At number three flight, Bashaw dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Pfisterer, followed by Seabra losing to Several, 6-0, 6-1.

At number five flight, senior Caroline Lippe (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) lost to Fields, 6-1, 6-0, while senior Deborah Choi (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn)  lost her match at number six flight to Kasten, 6-1, 6-1.
