Women's Tennis goes 3-1 during Spring Break trip

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team finished 3-1 during their annual Spring Break trip to central Florida.

St. Francis 6 (Ill.), Ursinus 3

Despite straight set singles wins from Laura Nebel and BreAnna Bashaw, the Bears dropped their first match of the season 6-3 to St. Francis (Ill.) in Winter Haven, Fla.

The Bears split the singles matches 3-3 after getting an additional win from Stephane-Jane Seabra.

Ursinus dropped all three doubles matches to St. Francis 8-2, 8-4 and 8-6, falling to 0-1 on the young season.

Ursinus 8, Cornerstone 1

Ursinus defeated Cornerstone University 8-1 in Winter Haven, Fla, improving to 1-1 on the season.

The Bears won five of six singles matches and all three doubles contests.

Ursinus was led by Heather McMasters, Stephane-Jane Seabra and BreAnna Bashaw, who each won both a singles and a doubles match.

Caroline Lippe and Renee Tornea both picked up additional singles wins.

The Bears team of Aubrey Whitebloom and Deborah Choi won their doubles match 8-0 to finish off Cornerstone.

Ursinus 6, King's (Pa.) 3

BreAnna Bashaw led Ursinus to a 6-3 win over King's College in Orlando, Fla, improving the Bears to 2-1 on the young season.

Bashaw won both her singles match are her doubles match with Jessica Tyrrell, earning the Bears two of their six points.

Stephane- Jane Seabra and Renee Tornea also picked up straight set singles wins for the Bears.

Laura Nebel rallied to win the second and third sets to defeat Nicole Molino 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and capture the win.

Sydney Dodson-Nease and Christina Conwell won a doubles match to secure the Bears sixth win on the day.

Ursinus 5, Simpson 4

BreAnna Bashaw won two matches for the Bears, lifting them to a 5-4 win over Simpson College to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Bashaw won her singles match 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 and then teamed with Jessica Tyrrell to win her doubles contest 8-6, earning the Bears two of their five points.

Heather McMasters and Caroline Lippe both won singles matches in three sets, adding to Bashaw's performance.

Audrey Whitebloom and Deborah Choi also teamed up for an 8-4 doubles win.
