Getting Set At Home

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team started their home slate off on the right side with a 6-3 win over Messiah. The Bears won five of the six singles matches after falling behind 2-1 after doubles.

In doubles play, the team of senior Jimena Talavera (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) and sophomore Heather McMasters (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) defeated Erin Ipsen and Sarah Brookhart at number one flight, 8-5 for the Ursinus (4-4) lone point in pairs play.

Sliding into singles play, McMasters defeated Brookhart at number two flight, 7-5, 6-3, followed by a 6-1, 6-3 win for junior Jessica Tyrell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) over Katelyn Clark at number three flight.

At number four flight, freshman Audrey Whitebloom (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) defeated Jennifer Kitlan, 6-7 (1-7), 6-2, 11-9. Senior Dana McDonough (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) defeated Ellen Harpold at number five flight, 6-2, 1-6, 10-3.

Finally, freshman Jami Dumler (York, Pa./York Catholic) defeated Michelle Curtis at number six flight, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.

Messiah fell to 4-4.
