COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's tennis team picked up their second conference win of the season on Wednesday with a 8-1 victory over Bryn Mawr.
The Bears swept all six singles matches as top flight singles senior Julia Kurtz (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) defeated Eliza Perocchi by a 6-2, 6-3 score, with freshman Mara Berzins (Perkasie, Pa./Penn Ridge) winning her match at second flight singles by a score of 6-4, 6-2.
At third flight singles, junior Jimena Talavera (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) defeated Jenny Vogel, 6-1, 6-2. Sophomore Jessica Tyrrell (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) defeated Melanie Shafer, 6-2, 6-0, at number four flight, with sophomore Caroline Lippe (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) defeating Elizabeth Olecki at number five flight, 6-1, 6-2.
At number six flight, junior Dana McDonough (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) defeated Zoe Odenwalder, 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles play, Kurtz and Tyrrell defeated Anna Perocchi and Chen, 8-6, at number one flight, with Talavera and freshman Heather McMasters (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) defeating Catherine Austin and Odenwalder, 8-1, at number two flight.
