Women's Swimming Defeats York on Homecoming

Collegeville, Pa – The Ursinus College women's swimming team improved to 2-2 on Saturday after defeating York College 106-73.

Head swim coach Mark Feinberg recorded his 200th career victory in the meet, as both the men's and women's programs defeated York College.

The 400-yard medley relay team of Molly Stevens, Sophie Lear, Charlotte Driver, and Liv Rachael got the Bears off to a quick start, taking first place of the opening race with a time of 4:08:75. Sophomore Melissa Leonard carried the momentum into the 1000-yard freestyle event, defeating the Spartans Sara Zimmerman by .53 seconds. Leonard also finished first in the women's 100-yard freestyle race with a time of 55.84

Lauren Badger and Rosalia Murphy finished first and second, carrying the Bears in the 200-yard freestyle race. Sophie Lear continued the dominance, finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 24.54. Freshman Molly Stevens finished first in the 100-yard backstroke race with a time of 1:01.50.

In the 100-yard butterfly race, Charlotte Driver and Rosalia Murphy finished first and second picking up 13 of the possible 18 points for the Bears. Katie Barlow won the 400-yard IM, as well for Ursinus finishing with a time of 4:54.46.

The Bears will return to action on Friday as they travel to Bryn Mawr.
