Westminster, Md. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team got back to its winning ways on Saturday. The Bears took down McDaniel 59-35, winning five events on the day.

The Bears saw their remarkable 70 dual meet win streak against Division III competition come to an end last weekend against Swarthmore. Prior to that, the Ursinus women hadn't lost since December 2012.

The relay team of Katie Sanfield, Haley Sturla, Katherine Champagne, and Liv Rachael got the Bears going, taking the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:55.07 right out of the gates. The Bears went on to sweep the 400-yard individual medley as Katie Schultz and Katelyn Moore took first and second.

McDaniel won the next two events, but second-place finishes kept Ursinus in the lead, 21-12. Abigail Ferguson placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with Jessica Gutekunst was right behind her as the Bears earned first and second.

The Green Terror won the next four events, but again, second and third-place finishes from the Bears kept Ursinus in the lead by double digits.

The Bears finished strong by placing first in the final two events. Sophie Lear won the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:02.51 and Rachael finished right behind her at 1:04.55. Closing out the day, the team of Schultz, Sanfield, Margrethe Leis, and Champagne won the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing seven seconds ahead of McDaniel, clocking in at 1:44.53.

Ursinus will continue Centennial Conference action next week when they host Gettysburg.
