Women's Swimming Places Eight on All-CC Team

LANCASTER, Pa. – Basking in the glow of their sixth consecutive championship, eight members of the Ursinus College women's swimming team were officially recognized with All-Centennial Conference laurels.

Seniors Clara Baker, Caroline Powell, and Peyten Lyons; junior Haley Sturla; sophomores Katherine Kurzinsky and Sophie May; and first-years Sophie Lear and Katie Schultz all garnered first team certificates for their gold-medal performances, with Kurzinsky, Lyons, May, Schultz, and Sturla also receiving honorable mention on runner-up efforts.

Head coach Mark Feinberg, meanwhile, was named coach of the year for the eighth consecutive season.

The Bears established a new conference record in four of the five relays over the course of the four-day championship. Baker, Lear, Lyons, and May were involved in the 200 medley relay (1:43.99), the 200 free relay (1:34.81), and the 400 free relay (3:28.61), while Sturla joined Baker, Lear, and Lyons to win the 400 medley relay (3:47.67). Kurzinsky, Schultz, Powell, and May won the 800 free relay (7:39.74).

Baker won the 100 fly and 200 fly, giving her a school-record 21 conference championships for her remarkable career.

Lear captured the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 breast en route to being named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer and Most Outstanding Rookie Performer.

Lyons was victorious in the 100 back and 200 IM.

May claimed gold in the 200 free and a silver in the 50 free, while Schultz was the winner of the 400 IM. The rookie also took silver in the 500 free and 1650 free.

Kurzinsky was runner-up in the 200 free, as was Lyons in the 200 back and Sturla in the 200 breast.

Freshman Ro Murphy was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
