NORFOLK, Va. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team continued to reach new heights with the selection of a school-record four student-athletes to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team.

2018 graduate Olivia Tierney, rising senior Clara Baker, and rising sophomore Sophie May were all awarded first-team laurels, which recognizes swimmers who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA championships. Katherine Porter '18 was named honorable mention for her similar academic success and attaining a "B" time standard.

The women's swimming team has produced a Scholar All-American in each of the last five years, but never in this quantity. The three first-team selections are more than the program's entire previous history, and the four total honorees are also a new benchmark.

Baker becomes the first women's swimmer in Ursinus history to nab two first team Scholar All-America certificates after another record-breaking campaign in which she became the Bears' most decorated athlete as a seven-time All-American. Baker captured five gold medals at the Centennial Conference championship before securing All-America honors in the 100-yard butterfly, 200 medley relay, and 400 medley relay at the NCAA Championships.

May made her mark as one of the top rookies in the nation with a scintillating performance at the conference meet, racking up five golds and a pair of silvers en route to being named Most Outstanding Rookie Performer. The freshman phenom won the 50 free and competed as part of the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, and 200 medley relay. She also took second place in the 200 free and 200 back. May scored All-America recognition in the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, and 800 free relay at the NCAA Championships.

Tierney capped her career with four CC gold medals and a pair of All-America honors. She won the 200 breast and 400 IM at the conference championship, obtaining a "B" cut in the former, and was a member of the first-place 200 medley and 400 medley relays, both of which finished in the top-16 at nationals.

Porter grabbed All-CC honorable mention for her silver medal in the 100-yard butterfly. She was a five-time all-conference performer for her career.

The women's swimming team ran away with its fifth consecutive CC championship and sent a record six student-athletes to the NCAA Championships, including the first-ever relay qualifiers. All six swimmers collected at least one All-America certificate at the national meet.
