Women's Swimming Caps NCAA's with Record Relay

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team continued its assault on the Centennial Conference record books on the final day of the NCAA Championships.

The grouping of senior Sydney Gundersen, junior Peyten Lyons, junior Clara Baker, and freshman Sophie May touched the wall in 3:29.89 in the 400 free relay, breaking their own conference mark and giving the Bears a third CC record over the four-day national championship meet. The quartet placed 23rd in the preliminary heats.

Senior Olivia Tierney posted a season-best 2:22.28 to place 25th in the 200 breast prelims, and Lyons finished 38th in the 200 back (2:07.49).

Ursinus finished in 25th place in the final team standings.

The Bears' incredible 2017-18 season included a fifth consecutive Centennial Conference championship and three All-American relays at the NCAA Championships. Four swimmers became All-Americans for the first time, and Baker took her place as the most accomplished student-athlete in program history with her seventh All-America certificate.
