Baker Named CC Swimmer of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior Clara Baker has been selected as the Centennial Conference women's swimmer of the week, following her impressive performance at the Golden Rams Classic at West Chester this past weekend.

Baker started her weekend with a pair of wins in relay events on Friday. First, she was part of the group that took second in the 200 free relay (1:36.11), coming up a tenth of a second short of a school record. The time was good enough for an NCAA B cut and currently ranks ninth in Division III.

Baker and three other teammates teamed up to take the 400 medley relay (3:51.59) later in the day, moving to eighth in Division III and fell just short of an NCAA B cut.

Friday's event were just a prequel to what Baker did in Saturday's session. She earned an individual first-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 55.65, which currently ranks second in the nation, just .04 seconds behind Kenyon's Kanchi Desai. She'd add a solo third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:07.03), which was also an NCAA B cut and good for 28th in the nation.

Baker participated in three other relay events on Day Two, leading the Bears to a pair of second-place finishes: First, in the 200 medley relay, where the group touched the wall in 1:46.92, moving to 17th in Division III. Baker and her teammates also placed second in the 400 free relay in 3:33.02, ranking 16th in Division III.
