Women's Swimming captures second straight CC title

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team captured its second straight Centennial Conference title, winning the three-day Centennial Conference Championship with a total team score of 667.5 points.

Once again, it came down to the final relay and, once again, the Bears sealed the win in dramatic style by capturing both the A and B final in the 400 free relay.

In the B final, the team of senior Amanda Lucock, sophomore Marisa Ferrari, senior Rebecca Schroll and sophomore Alli Hemp won the event with a time of 3:36.82. In the A final, the team of freshman Sydney Gundersen, junior Micaela Lyons, senior Chelsea Kozior and junior Corinne Capodanno won the event with a NCAA B cut time of 3:30.77.

Leading by 30 points going into day three, the Bears got some top swims in the final session.

Starting with the 1650 free, senior Amanda Lucock finished in eighth place with a time of 18:11.06, while sophomore Allison Emick was in 13th place with a time of 18:47.66.

In the 200 back, freshman Meggie Leitz was second in the B final with a time of 2:13.75, while freshman Rachel Weil was in eighth with a time of 2:17.94.

In the 100 free, Capodanno was second, medaling with a time of 52.40, while Gundersen was fourth with a time of 53.36. Kozior was fifth a time of 53.40. In the B final, Hemp was second with a time of 54.30, while Ferrari was eighth with a time of 55.40.

Freshman Olivia Tierney won the 200 breast with a time of 2:21.71.

In the 200 fly, sophomore Katie Pielmeier was third with a time of 2:09.17, while freshman Katherine Porter was fourth with a time of 2:10.25. In the B final, Schroll was sixth with a time of 2:16.13 with freshman Reney Hess was seventh in the B final with a time of 2:16.79.
